10th Belt and Road Summit set to shape the future through collaboration

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 6 September 2025 – The milestone 10th edition of the Belt and Road Summit to be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (September 10-11) is set to ride on its achievements of the past decade while creating new collaborative opportunities for governments and businesses to capitalise on the development of the Belt and Road Initiative (B&RI). Jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) under the theme of “Collaborate for Change • Shape a Shared Future”, this year’s Summit will welcome over 90 high-level government officials and business leaders from Belt and Road countries and regions. “The B&RI has been put into practice, turning an idea into action and a vision into reality. The HKSAR Government will further enhance Hong Kong’s role in taking forward the B&RI, raising the awareness of the B&RI among different sectors of the community and helping them to capture Belt and Road opportunities,” the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Algernon Yau said. New elements of the Summit this year include sessions featuring signature projects and market spotlights, a roundtable promoting sustainable development, and more opportunities in an exchange session for young business leaders. Nicholas Ho, Commissioner for Belt and Road, Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, said Hong Kong has made significant contributions serving as a functional platform for the B&RI. “This is only possible because of the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle and our status as a financial hub, our world-class universities and talent pool, professional services and advanced technology eco-system,” Mr Ho said. “Hong Kong can be the ‘super-connector’ where Belt and Road projects can find the right financing solutions, partners, service providers and talent to make these projects successful.” Looking ahead, Mr Ho said Hong Kong’s role in contributing to the high-quality development of the B&RI was assured by the city’s open, safe and stable environment and high level of cross-boundary connectivity. One company to leverage Hong Kong’s B&RI advantages is Shuangdeng Group, a leading company in energy storage battery business for big-data and telecommunication industries. James Su, Senior Advisor, Shuangdeng Group, said the B&RI had opened valuable opportunities. “We made the strategic decision to use Hong Kong as the platform for our global expansion, a couple of years ago. We received strong support from the Hong Kong government and its institutions,” Mr Su said. “Following participation in the visit to the Middle East led by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Mr John Lee, in May this year, we achieved an important milestone last week by listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Hong Kong’s capital market is also a powerful driver for companies like us,” Mr Su added. NetDragon Showcases AI-Powered Education Solutions at UNESCO Digital Learning Week 2025

Company highlights AI Content Factory and partnership with Open-Quest Academy to advance global education equity PARIS, FRANCE – Media OutReach Newswire – 6 September 2025 – NetDragon Websoft Holdings Limited (“NetDragon” or the “Company”; Hong Kong Stock Code: 777), a global leader in building internet communities, was invited to participate in UNESCO’s Digital Learning Week, held from September 2–5 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, under the theme “AI and the Future of Education”. NetDragon was featured at key events including the opening ceremony and parallel forums. As the only corporate invitee, it joined over 30 education ministers and senior officials from the UK, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Türkiye, the UAE and other nations at the Ministerial Roundtable. NetDragon Showcases AI-Powered Education Solutions at UNESCO Digital Learning Week 2025 (Dr. Simon Leung delivered a speech) Dr. Simon Leung, Vice Chairman of NetDragon, emphasized in his address at the opening ceremony that the future of education must be a collaboration that transcends academic boundaries and national frontiers, enabled by technology. During the event, NetDragon showcased a range of its AI education capabilities and products and also explained why Open-Quest Academy (“Open-Q”) chose to partner with NetDragon. Among the featured innovations were the interactive AI digital human, the Promethean ActivPanel 10 interactive panel, the ROKID AR immersive learning experience, and the “E-Library for Teachers”. The demonstrations drew global attention and garnered acclaim from international attendees. Addressing Global Content Creation Challenges Since the resurgence of large language models (LLMs) in 2023, AI has been a key driver in the acceleration of digital education worldwide. Dr. Leung underscored the transformative role of AI in education at the event. The global education community continues to grapple with significant challenges, including the shortage and uneven distribution of education resources, as well as the excessive concentration of content within limited regions and languages. During the pandemic, over 500 million students lacked remote learning access, 72% of whom were in underserved regions. Meanwhile, 90% of open educational resources originate from Western countries, with the majority dominated by English. To address these gaps, NetDragon created the AI Content Factory–a scalable, cost-efficient platform for culturally adaptive content production. By transforming educators’ tacit knowledge into structured data and enabling intelligent multi-agent collaboration across the content creation lifecycle, the AI Content Factory creates a self-improving system that combines human oversight with scalable AI-driven production. Its dual-cycle quality control mechanism integrates real-time teacher feedback and expert reviews, ensuring both accuracy and continuous improvement. A prime example is the AI Education Platform launched in partnership with Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) in May 2025. The platform provides AI-powered vocational training to students and young people across Thailand, aligning with the nation’s “Education 6.0” strategy while supporting growth in high-potential fields like AI, electric vehicles, and semiconductors. Beyond Thailand, with support from the World Bank, NetDragon is also advancing digital school transformation in countries including Cameroon. Going forward, the company will continue to leverage the AI Content Factory to deliver highly customized education solutions worldwide. Partnership with Open-Q NetDragon, together with the attending guests, witnessed the launch of Open-Q. Open-Q is an open, future-oriented education ecosystem. With education hubs and content creation centers worldwide, Open-Q brings together experts, teachers, and practitioners to collaborate on metaverse-based learning and teaching platforms. Anchored in its three core principles—technology for equity, co-creation of resources, and incentive-driven participation—Open-Q delivers high-quality, localized digital content to advance equitable and effective education worldwide. Data shows that the unemployment rate among bachelor’s degree holders aged 20–24 has risen by 29% over the past four to five years. In certain fields, such as IT and computer engineering, the rate has surged more than 100% compared with 2018–2019. Amid this challenge, Open-Q is harnessing the power of AI to provide new opportunities and guidance for the future. A core feature of Open-Q is its “Learn-and-Earn” model, a learning community where learners acquire job-ready skills, educators are rewarded for high-quality contributions, and the entire ecosystem benefits from an expanding shared knowledge base. The decision to partner with NetDragon is grounded in the Company’s demonstrated expertise in platform development, proven through multiple country-level initiatives. The Company’s collaborative history with UNESCO-affiliated institutions further solidified this partnership. In 2021, NetDragon jointly launched the “E-Library for Teachers” with UNESCO IITE—a platform that now supports more than 100,000 educators worldwide, demonstrating NetDragon’s sustained commitment to promoting educational equity through technology. Looking ahead, NetDragon will leverage its AI Content Factory as a core AI engine to deepen collaborations with UNESCO, national governments, leading global universities, and corporations. Together, they aim to create an educational ecosystem that transcends academic boundaries and national borders—accelerating the vision of a future where everyone can learn anywhere, anytime. Malaysia Airlines Secures Renewal Of 3-Year Air Operator’s Certificate

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) has successfully regained its three-year air operator certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), a year after the validity was cut to one year due to operational concerns. The airline’s chief operating officer, Nasaruddin Bakar, said the approval followed an audit carried out two months ago. “We completed the audit recently, and over the past 12 months, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) and Malaysia Airlines have made significant improvements, particularly in strengthening safety standards,” he said at an event held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre. Nasaruddin added that MAG has stepped up recruitment efforts to tackle staff shortages, especially in the engineering division, to further support operational stability. In August last year, CAAM reduced the validity of Malaysia Airlines’ AOC from three years to one, citing frequent flight delays and scaled-back routes amid operational difficulties. Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook had said then that the airline was required to submit monthly reports detailing progress on its operational recovery plan. He also revealed that CAAM’s investigation into Malaysia Airlines and its subsidiary, MAB Engineering Services, highlighted manpower shortages and technical component issues as key factors behind recurring technical problems. The departure of 63 skilled staff from MAB Engineering Services, which oversees the airline’s aircraft maintenance, was also flagged as a contributing factor to the challenges in strengthening its safety management system.

Samaiden Consortium Secures 99.99MW Large-Scale Solar Project In Johor

KUALA LUMPUR, Renewable energy (RE) specialist Samaiden Group Bhd, through a consortium, has secured a landmark project under the large-scale solar PETRA 5+ programme, marking another step forward in Malaysia’s clean energy push. The consortium, formed by Samaiden’s wholly-owned Samaiden Sdn Bhd (SSB) and JBB Builders (M) Sdn Bhd, received a letter of notification from the Energy Commission on Sept 2, officially naming it as a shortlisted bidder to develop a 99.99 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic plant in Segamat, Johor. Awarded under Package 3 (covering projects in the 30MW to 500MW category) following a competitive bidding process, the project reflects the consortium’s strong technical expertise and financial capabilities, alongside Samaiden’s proven track record in delivering large-scale RE projects. The plant will operate under a 21-year solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and is targeted to achieve commercial operation by Oct 31, 2027. VinFast Posts US$812 Million Net Loss In Q2

HANOI, Vietnam’s electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast posted a net loss of US$812 million in the second quarter, even as deliveries surged. The country’s first homegrown car manufacturer — part of the Vingroup conglomerate led by Vietnam’s richest man — has set its sights on competing with global EV leaders such as Tesla. However, breaking into overseas markets has proven difficult, with its shares experiencing sharp swings since listing on Nasdaq in August 2023. Vietnam’s electronic vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast reported a net loss of US$812 million in the second quarter, despite deliveries jumping significantly. According to its unaudited results released Friday, VinFast’s Q2 net loss widened by nearly US$40 million compared with the same period last year. Vehicle deliveries rose sharply to more than 35,800 units, up 172% year-on-year, while revenue jumped 91.6% to US$663 million. Chairwoman Thuy Le said the results keep VinFast “on track to at least double our deliveries in 2025.” Despite reporting losses exceeding US$3 billion last year, the company has nearly 400 showrooms worldwide and is pushing into markets across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the US and Canada. The company now faces added challenges from tariffs, after Washington imposed a 20% duty on Vietnamese EV exports in July under a deal with Hanoi. Vingroup, chaired by tycoon Pham Nhat Vuong, dominates various sectors in Vietnam, including real estate, healthcare, education and technology. Domestically, VinFast’s e-scooters, cars and buses have become a common sight on the streets of the 100-million-strong nation.
