Gamuda Bhd, through its joint venture (JV) with Taiwan-based Shang Ting Construction Co Ltd, has secured a RM3.3 billion (NTD26.39 billion) contract for the Kaohsiung Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Xiaogang–Linyuan Line civil works and electromechanical facilities project in Taiwan.

The group secured the Kaohsiung Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Xiaogang–Linyuan Line civil works and electromechanical facilities project, valued at RM3.3bil.
The JV is structured with Gamuda holding a 70% stake, while Shang Ting Construction holds the remaining 30%. Based on this arrangement, Gamuda’s effective share of the contract value amounts to RM2.31 billion.
According to the group, the project scope includes the construction of three underground MRT stations and one elevated station, alongside 3.88km of underground twin-bore railway tracks and six cross passages. The development forms part of Kaohsiung’s broader rail infrastructure expansion and urban transport upgrade efforts.
The project is scheduled to be completed over a period of seven years and four months, reflecting the scale and complexity of the engineering works involved.
Gamuda noted that this latest win further strengthens its track record in Taiwan’s infrastructure sector. The group previously delivered the MRT Orange Line Package C04 and is currently involved in the Kaohsiung MRT Yellow Line Package YC01.

The newly secured contract marks Gamuda’s 10th infrastructure project in Taiwan, following its earlier award for the Kaohsiung Port Intercontinental Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal – Wharf and Connecting Roads (Bridges) project. The group said this milestone underscores its growing momentum and expanding footprint in the Taiwanese market.
Since entering Taiwan in 2002, Gamuda said it has developed into a trusted infrastructure partner, progressively building its capabilities across a wide range of complex engineering works. These include railway systems as well as large-scale marine and civil infrastructure projects.
The group added that the latest award reinforces its expertise in delivering multi-disciplinary infrastructure solutions and highlights its continued role in supporting Taiwan’s long-term transportation and urban development plans.
