Nissan to Slash Over 10,000 More Jobs Globally

TOKYO: Nissan Motor Co is preparing to cut over 10,000 additional jobs worldwide, pushing its total layoffs to approximately 20,000—equivalent to 15% of its global workforce, according to Japanese public broadcaster NHK.

The move comes as the automaker braces for a record net loss of between ¥700 billion and ¥750 billion (US$4.74 billion–US$5.08 billion) for the financial year ending March 2025, largely due to impairment charges.

The cuts build on previously announced downsizing measures as Nissan continues to grapple with weak profitability and restructuring efforts.

The company is expected to officially release its full-year results later today. Nissan declined to comment on the job cuts report.–REUTERS
